Jamba Nyinayi Festival (Rest awhile)

Jamba Nyinayi Festival is a free event that will bring a stunning array of WA dance and musical artists, featuring some of the best of Gascoyne talent. Traditional foods will form a part of the cultural experience. The festival will tell the story of what the eclipse means to the traditional owners through a drone light show and an Indigenous music and dance program. All the cultural art shown and performed will be curated around the traditional eclipse story, creating an original and significant cultural experience.
Fremantle Biennale’s First Light Drone Show

Join us for First Lights: Nyinggulu on Town Beach in Exmouth – a spectacle of light and sound that illuminates the night sky to share ancient stories of place. Guided by Baiyungu custodian Hazel Walgar of the Nyinggulu coast and Yingarrda-Wadjarri artist Sonya Edney, the spectacular Dreaming story of the great eclipse will resound across the night sky. This is the story born from silence, of Jirndarl and Willarda, the sun, the moon and their first encounter. Produced by the Fremantle Biennale, this is an epic-scale aerial choreography consisting of a fleet of 160 light drones.

From Aboriginal dance workshops to dining under the stars with local MKR Contestant, Matt Moncrieff followed by Aboriginal Night Sky Stories. Each nights promises to be a mesmerizing and captivating experience. Against the backdrop of the stunning night sky, visitors will be transported to a world of ancient tales and legends, as the indigenous guides share their rich cultural heritage through the power of storytelling. As the stars twinkle above, the stories come to life, painting a vivid picture of the significance of the night sky in the lives of the Aboriginal people. These unique and unforgettable evenings offer a rare opportunity to connect with the rich traditions of the past, while also experiencing the beauty of the night sky in a truly immersive way. Beyond the Milky Way — VR Experience

This immersive experience will take you on a culinary journey as you discover the flavours and ingredients of local Aboriginal cuisine. The menu will feature a variety of dishes made from locally sourced ingredients such as bush fruits, herbs, and meats. You’ll be able to sample a range of dishes, including mouth-watering roasted meats, baked damper bread, and more. The Bush Tucker cafe experience is an unforgettable way to experience the culture and cuisine of Australia’s Indigenous people. Burlganjya Wanggaya Tour… Old People Talking Tour – Listen, Learn and Respect

Join us at Gwoonwardu Mia, as we welcome you to Yinggarda Country to experience the Solar Eclipse with our Traditional Owners. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness the awe-inspiring sight of the sun being obscured by the moon and to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of our Traditional Owners.

Join us for the Solar Eclipse Markets at the Carnarvon Civic Centre, it is the perfect place for families, astronomy enthusiasts, and local businesses to gather and celebrate the rare celestial event. During the week of Solar Eclipse festivities, the Civic Centre will be transformed into a bustling hub of excitement and activity. Come and browse the stalls filled with unique and locally made gifts, souvenirs, and handmade crafts. Sample some of the finest local delicacies from the region, as well as mouth-watering food and seasonal local produce.

The Gascoyne’s night skies are some of the best in the world for stargazing and astro photography. Let us share some of our favourite stargazing spots with you and share Yinggarda Dreaming stories of the night sky. Kangaroo curry and damper cooked in the coals is available upon request.
