WAITOC Achievements

WAITOC have participated in the promotion of Indigenous tourism products by having representation on the following boards or in the following events:

  • DEC Tourism Industry Reference Group (TIRG)
  • Australia's Golden Outback
  • Inbound Tour Operators Workshop
  • FACET Ecotourism Conference
  • Australian Tourism Exchange (ATE)
  • Key Overseas Trade Expos
  • WAITOC also won the DRV (Association of German Travel Agents and Tour Operators) International Environmental Award "Tourism and Environment" - for outstanding conservation projects
  • WAITOC was also a finalist in the Destination Promotion and Significant Festivals/Events category of the WA Tourism Awards 2005
  • WAITOC representative on National Board of Directors for Tourism Australia
  • WAITOC representative on Tourism Western Australia Board
  • Tourism Council of WA – Association member and member on State Tourism Council
  • Tourism Council of WA – member of the Accreditation Advisory Committee
  • WAITOC host and coordinated the Australian Indigenous Tourism Conference (AITC) providing further avenues for the promotion of Western Australia as the premier Indigenous Tourism destination. As the Conference was a large success, it will be held annually, thus providing an additional regular promotional opportunity.
  • WAITOC presents the Gnunkai awards in association with AITC recognising national success stories in Indigenous Tourism
  • Re-launch of the WAITOC website 2007
  • Launch of the “listening, looking, learning – an Aboriginal Tourism Strategy for Western Australia”, WAITOC has the opportunity to be pro-active and assist the government in implementing and delivering many of the objectives listed in the document
  • WAITOC participated on the Indigenous Europe and UK Aboriginal Experience Roadshow 2007
  • Launch of the WAITOC product Brochure 2007
  • WAITOC sponsors the Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander category of the WA Tourism Awards
